Abstract

Green Frame is a sustainable urban design-build team that strives to give students across all majors’ experience in hands-on project design from concept to installation. We were established in the fall of 2017. We seek to promote green technology holistically, ensuring that our installations are not only educational, but also interactive and beneficial to the UVA community. This academic year, we intend to construct a semi-permanent solar workstation in the open courtyard between the Thornton B and E wings, for free use. From conversations with Professors Beatley and Brian Smith, there is no student organization like ours, focused on implementing sustainable technology through hands on design and construction. We measure our success by the educational experience of our members and the notoriety and good function of our projects.

Our mission is to inspire students to be proactive and contextually-aware Engineers who empower communities to attain their basic human needs in a sustainable manner.
