University Faculty and Professors

Thank you for visiting our website! Engineers Going Global is comprised of a number of dedicated and hard-working students from all across the University. We have students in all Engineering majors, Global Development Studies, the Architecture School and many more areas of focus.

EGG project members work on building a community gardens across from Observatory Hill.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED WITH EGG?

Our members are constantly coming up with great new ideas that need the guidance of an experienced faculty member. If you would like to become a faculty adviser for a project, you can contact one of our Project Managers. In addition, a project leader for one of our projects may reach out to you about becoming an adviser. In this case, we encourage you to work with our members and contact one of the Project Members if you have any questions on the expectations or responsibilities of a faculty adviser to an EGG project.

Besides being a project adviser, there are more ways for UVA faculty and professors to get involved in EGG. As an Executive Board, we provide and host numerous workshops and events for our members throughout the semester. We like to include faculty in these workshops to provide more experience and knowledge on the many topics we discuss. Some examples of the past workshops we have done include AutoCAD design, 3D Printing, Goal Development, Project Leadership, Financial Modeling, and Wood Working. However, we are constantly looking to host new workshops that will benefit our members and would love to have UVA faculty help out! If you are interested in leading one of our workshops, please contact our Events Chair.

I ALREADY HAVE A PROJECT AND WANT TO ENLIST THE HELP OF EGG. WHAT DO I DO NOW?

There are many successful EGG projects that have arisen because a UVA faculty member came to us with an idea. For example, Professor Garrick Louis of the Systems and Information Engineering department approached EGG with the Rapid Adaptive Needs Assessment (RANA) kit and wanted a team of EGG members to find a way to take the current technology and make it easier to transport. The team has currently set up shop in Lacy Lab and is well on their way to creating a miniaturized version of the RANA kit.

If you have a project that you are currently working on or have an idea for a project, we are always happy to enlist the help of our members! We have members from all across the University and we will help you find the right team for your project. Please contact one of our Project Managers about collaborating with EGG. You can find the contact information for all of our Exec members under the “About” tab.
