Community Partners

Welcome to Engineers Going Global! We are glad that you are visiting our website today. Over the past 14 years, EGG has worked with a number of community partners in the local, national, and international communities. Our members can help solve problems that will benefit both your organization and the community that you serve.

One of the great qualities of EGG project teams is our commitment to diversity. At EGG, we believe that the best project work is accomplished through a diverse team of dedicated individuals. We recruit students from all across the University; our members study Computer Science, mechanical engineering, architecture, civil engineering, education, business, and global development, among many other majors. We are a fully inclusive student organization that is working towards making a positive impact in our community!

I HAVE A PROBLEM/PROJECT IDEA. CAN ENGINEERS GOING GLOBAL HELP?

A lot of current and former EGG projects have been started with one of our community partners approaching us with a problem. For example, the EcoVillage Playground project was formed when Joanie Freeman, leader of the EcoVillage Charlottesville, contacted one of our Project Managers with an idea to build a playground for the children who are homeschooled at the property. If you have a problem or an idea for a project and would like to enlist the help of an EGG project team please contact one of our Project Managers. Their contact information can be found under the “About” Tab. Even if you just want to learn more about the work that we do or the services we offer, send an email to a Project Manager and they will be happy to set up a meeting.

I DON’T HAVE A PROJECT, BUT WOULD STILL LIKE TO GET INVOLVED WITH EGG. WHAT OPTIONS DO I HAVE?

There are more ways to get involved with EGG members that partnering with us on a project. For starters, the Executive Board will host weekly events for our members that are geared towards providing some sort of aid to our project teams. We also love to bring in some our community partners to host a meeting and give talks on any relevant topics, such as sustainability, entrepreneurship, and leadership. If you are interested in sharing your passions with EGG members, please send an email to our Outreach Chair, whose contact information can be found under the “About” tab.

If you don’t have a specific project idea, but would still like to work with EGG projects in some capacity, please send an email to one of our Project Managers. Whether it is acting as a mentor to an existing project or having members speak at an event/conference, we would be happy to talk with you regarding your ideas.

Finally, none of our work is made possible without the extreme generosity of our donors. If you would like to make a donation to Engineers Going Global, please visit the “Donate” tab. Donations of any size are always appreciated and could make a difference for our project members and the communities they are serving.

Our mission is to inspire students to be proactive and contextually-aware Engineers who empower communities to attain their basic human needs in a sustainable manner.
